Hands-On Therapies
(IMS) Intramuscular Stimulation
IMS is a form of dry needling (no injectable solution) and is used to treat dysfunction of skeletal muscle and connective tissue, minimize peripheral pain and improve or regulate structural or functional damage. IMS involves multiple advances of a filament needle (very similar to an acupuncture needle) into the muscle in the area of the body which produces pain and typically contains a ‘Trigger Point’.
Cupping
Myofascial cupping is a soft tissue therapy that encourages healing by creating a negative pressure or suction on the skin using plastic or glass cups that pull up underlying tissues, blood, and other fluids close to the surface of the skin.
(STR) Soft Tissue Release
STR is a type of massage-technique that requires specific and detailed anatomical knowledge. Using a variety of pressure-point methods, the therapist attempts to release the muscle while taking it through it’s natural length
TAPING
Rigid athletic taping has many benefits including managing the initial stages of an acute injury (to help immobilize a joint), whereas K-Tape is more effective in assisting in joint position and awareness.
ADJUSTMENTS/MANIPULATIONS
The Canadian Academy of Manipulative Physiotherapy is an internationally recognized organization that educates physiotherapist on the effective implementation of peripheral and spinal adjustments. Jenny holds her Level 3.
